It is now April which means that the Canadian Football League draft is around the corner. Many football fans across the nation are starting to speculate on whom will be called by CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie live on TSN. Two of those potential names are Canadian quarterbacks. Which is a rare and special occurrence in the CFL. There is NCAA division 1 football from the Mid-American Conference, Ohio Bobcats' very own starter quarterback Nathan Rourke. Then there is USports football, Canada West subdivision, Calgary Dinio's very own starter quarterback, Adam Sinagra. This blog entry will breakdown both young quarterbacks, Sinagra and Rourke statistics, compare those stats and conclude with, which quarterback will go before the other in the upcoming 2020 CFL draft. Firstly, this blog entry will review Adam Sinagra's stats as Sinagra plays closer to home. Sinagra had a most excellent 2018 season as Sinagra was named Canada West male athlete of the year. During the 2018 season, Sinagra played 8 regular-season games, throwing a 66% pass completion percentage with 281 pass attempts and 186 pass completions. Sinagra also threw for 3233 yards. Impressive no doubt and by the end of Sinagra's university football career, Sinagra threw for 8354 yards. With a pass completion rate of 65%. Secondly, Nathan Rourke also put up some interesting numbers in Rourke's collegiate football career down south. In Rourke's most recent season of the year 2019, arguably Rourke's best season, Rourke threw for 2,820 yards. Rourke at the end of the 2019 season threw a 61% pass completion rate, as Rourke threw for 200 pass completions out of 328 pass attempts. Impressive yes, and showed much improvement from Rourke's rookie collegiate season. Rourke in there 2017 year, had a 55% pass completion rate. It may be tough to compare both quarterbacks but a scout has to consider the numbers. Statistically speaking, while Rourke took his time to grow into his starting role, Sinagra proves that they were decent from the get-go. Even if the league's scouts stigmatize USports more, Sinagra seems to be the better athlete on paper that is. With no national draft combine this year it does make it more challenging on scouts to have an accurate example of which quarterback is better, so the scouts only have stats to look at anyways. Although it is important to note that I (Big Al), did a poll on social media and whom the fans of the CFL think would get drafted first. It was split down the middle! I personally would like to think however since Sinagra had better numbers in fewer games played, they are the better athlete! With all that being said and in conclusion, Big Al's final thought is that between Sinagra and Rourke, Adam Sinagra has to be called before Nathan Rourke!
